A must for your pumpkin picking rotation is a trip to Guse’s Christmas Tree Farm. During the months of September and October, the Christmas trees are put on hold in favor of pumpkins, corn mazes and hayrides. Saturdays and Sundays are open picking and the weekdays are reserved for school groups. The $8 cost of admission is well worth the unlimited access to the maze, kiddie train, hayrides and other fun. Harvest Tyme Pumpkin Patch

One of the most popular spots for pumpkin picking in Valparaiso is the wildly popular Harvest Tyme Farm. This farm is more than your average pumpkin field. In addition to things like a hayride and corn maze, there are some extra special things to check out. People come from far and wide to experience the Candy Cannon. At 2 o’clock in the afternoon on Saturdays and Sundays, the Candy Cannon shoots candy high into the air using 500 gallons of compressed air for visitors to gather. This fall favorite is located at 17904 Grant Street in Lowell.

Another fun way to spend an afternoon is by visiting Family Fall Days at Johnson’s Family Farm.
